Together, we are meeting uncertainty with compassion, courage, practical care, education, and the love of Jesus.

As winter gives way to the first signs of spring, we are reminded that seasons of hardship are often followed by renewal and hope. These past months at BRPC have been busy with women and men looking for hope as they continue to seek compassionate care, clear medical information, and practical support during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Because Christ first loved us, we seek to love every individual who enters our clinic. That includes not only mothers, but also fathers. Many men arrive feeling overwhelmed, unprepared, or unsure of their role. Through mentoring, fatherhood education, and one-on-one support, we encourage them to step into responsibility with confidence and courage. Strong fathers help build strong families, and we are committed to equipping them for that calling.

This year has ushered in uncertainty in the political landscape. Shifting policies and an increasingly challenging climate toward life-affirming pregnancy medical work have created real pressures for clinics like ours. Yet our commitment has not wavered. Every day, we remain dedicated to providing professional medical services, evidence-based education, and a safe, respectful space for women to explore their options and encounter living HOPE.

Your generosity makes this possible. Because our services are offered at no cost, your partnership provides the steady foundation we need to continue serving women and men alike. Your support is a tangible reminder of God’s provision and faithfulness.

As we anticipate the renewal that spring brings, we are deeply grateful for your continued faithfulness. Together, we are meeting uncertainty with compassion, courage, practical care, education, and the love of Jesus.

Thank you for standing with us and with the women, men, and families we serve!

With gratitude and hope,
Jane Oliver, Executive Director

Virginia Pro-Abortion Amendment

What Does Virginia’s Proposed Pro-Abortion “Right To Reproductive Freedom” Amendment Actually Say?

This November, Virginia voters will be asked to decide on the addition of the proposed constitutional amendment (the “Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment” HB781/SB449) to our state constitution.

This is one of the most extreme abortion measures in the nation and threatens the very work you partner with us to accomplish. Please take the time to familiarize yourself and others about what the amendment “actually” says and means and about how the ballot question will appear on voter ballots on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

We must stand together to defeat this extreme amendment that endangers lives by allowing abortions up to the moment of birth, undermines essential protections for mothers and unborn children, ignores medical safeguards, undermines parental involvement, and contains no conscience protections. Please plan to Vote NO to this reckless amendment.

Client Story Highlight

"People get abortions at this stage…I could never do that after seeing what I saw..."

Serena (name changed for patient privacy) came in for an appointment, sharing with us that this is her first pregnancy. During the ultrasound, even though her intention was to carry to term and parent her child, she couldn’t believe she was looking at an actual human inside of her womb. Her baby measured eight weeks and five days. She kept looking at her aunt, who came to support her, saying “Do you see that? That is a human! I can’t believe it!” She was even more shocked and amazed when she saw her baby’s heartbeat.

After the ultrasound, our nurse showed Serena the models of the current approximate size of her baby, to which Serena exclaimed, “It’s not a blob!”

The ultrasound scan above is an example of a baby measuring 8 weeks and the models pictured above show a baby at 9 weeks Serena’s baby was just a few days shy of 9 weeks.

As Serena was leaving her appointment, she turned and said to her aunt, “People get abortions at this stage…I could never do that after seeing what I saw.”

This story is a potent example of how abortion culture affects even those who intend to parent. Women and men are constantly told that their preborn baby is just a “clump of cells”, a “blob”, or simply that “it is not a human yet.” This could not be further from the truth, and science itself proves otherwise. Ultrasound imaging provides an amazing window into the womb, and we are so grateful that Serena was able to see and acknowledge the beautiful humanity and worth of her sweet baby. Your continued support and prayers make moments like this possible. Thank you!

The average cost of an abortion in Virginia is $540.

For the same amount, we can provide a woman’s first pregnancy test, first ultrasound, and the counseling necessary to empower a life decision. We can also use this to continue giving resources and support the family after baby is born.

Ways to get involved:

  • Fill a bottle with coins, cash, or a check payable to Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center
  • Scan the QR code below
  • Please pray for our ministry to continue impacting families now and for eternity

Baby Bottle Campaigns can begin any time of the year, but some of our supporters prefer to highlight the Mother’s and Father’s Day timeline. If you, your church, or your business is interested in hosting a Baby Bottle Campaign, please reach out to babybottles@blueridgepc.org.

Thank you for your support in helping save lives!

Volunteer Highlight: Christy Sattler

Judy Taylor

Meet Christy Sattler! Christy and her family have lived in Lynchburg for the past 30 years, where they raised their two now adult children.

With her background in nursing and passion for the sanctity of life, Christy has a heart for serving those facing unplanned pregnancies and being involved with BRPC. Christy is one of our longest-serving advocates and has been with us for close to 10 years!

Christy did not always have a heart for the preborn or an awareness of the reality of abortion in the way that she does now. Growing up in church, she considered herself a Christian and believed that God desired her happiness, no matter what. Reflecting on her youth, she shared that she might have said back then that she was personally against abortion, but in fact more likely believed that if she ever did become pregnant and abortion was the “best option” for her, God would be ok with that. This outlook changed for her with the release of Francis Schaeffer’s Whatever Happened to the Human Race in 1979, a pro-life book and film series that analyzes the decline of human dignity in Western culture. Christy had been saved for a short time when this was released, but she had not considered abortion from a true biblical perspective or thought deeply about it until she read Schaeffer’s book and saw the film. The reality is, many Christians don’t deeply consider abortion and what God says about it.

As Christy continued to grow in her faith and eventually raised a family of her own, she became emboldened to use her gift of service to minister to women with unexpected pregnancies.

I love the Annual Banquet and when we get to hear all the statistics from the previous year, but every single mom and dad that has formed those statistics of lives saved is so important. They are real people. Their stories are so unique and challenging. It’s so important to listen to them and be the hands and feet of Jesus. We can’t see God, but we can see Him in His people. We want to reflect His love and hope to each patient we see.

Serving as an advocate expands my world and offers perspective to what others are going through in our community. I don’t want to live in my own little world. There is a real need here. There will always be the need of helping those in unplanned pregnancies. Thinking back on the recent patients I’ve seen this month, I may never see them again or be their best friend, but what matters is that in this fast-paced, electronic world, someone sat down with them, looked them in the eyes, listened to them, and offered them hope and encouragement. The greatest desire is of course that the patient both decides to follow Jesus and parent her baby. That is what we all hope for. But we are here to plant the seeds and offer real support and resources – God will take care of the rest. God is a God of hope, and He reaps the harvest.

Men's Ministry Update

From Landry Coleman, Men's Services Director

Every day, we have the privilege of sitting with individuals and couples who come through our doors carrying a lot of fear, uncertainty, and unanswered questions. There are many stories we could share, but every so often, one really stays with you.

Recently, a young couple, both students, visited us soon after finding out they were pregnant. They felt the appointment was mostly a formality because they had already decided to have an abortion. Still, they were willing to talk through their situation and hear about their options.

During the conversation, the father spoke openly about his faith. He said he believed abortion was wrong but felt stuck, convinced it was the only realistic path forward. Our male advocate created space for him to share honestly, listening to his fears and the weight he was carrying. As they talked, he opened up about his parents, who are active in ministry, and his worry that telling them would damage their relationship. When the advocate asked him to think about times in the past where he felt he had let them down, he realized they had always responded with grace and forgiveness.

They prayed together, and the advocate then walked him to the ultrasound room. After seeing their baby on the ultrasound and having time to process the appointment, the couple shared the next day that they had decided to parent. The male advocate received this text from the father:

With complete honesty, we both walked into BRPC with a decision that was mutual. However, we are forever grateful for your center. It completely changed our view and decision. I want to thank you personally for sitting with me and talking to me. I took to heart what you said and you changed my outlook on the situation. Specifically what you said about the ultrasound made me understand that that’s our child and God loves them just as much as He does us. We have decided to keep the child and felt the Lord give us peace over our decision. Thank you again for what you said and we can’t wait to return to your center!

Moments like this remind us that when people encounter God’s love and patience, hope can replace fear.

Looking ahead, one of my goals this year is to expand our men’s services digitally. Younger generations are spending more time online, so we want to meet them there. We’ve launched a new website, noblepursuit.org, and you can also follow us on Instagram @noblepursuitmen. There’s a lot more to come, so follow along.
