Dear BRPC Friend,

Winter is the coldest and darkest season of the year, but thanks to your generosity and partnership, the SON shines brightly here at BRPC! I hope you’ll take the time to read the testimonies contained in this quarter’s newsletter that demonstrate how your support shines the Light of Jesus into the lives of those who walk through our doors in despair, and empowers them to walk out choosing LIFE for their preborn children and abundant life for themselves.

We have seen a significant increase in women and men seriously considering or determined to choose abortion. Thankfully, your generous financial support allows BRPC to allocate strategic marketing dollars to intercept them BEFORE they head to the abortion clinic. From November through January, 89 women would have gone directly to an abortion clinic to end the lives of their babies if we hadn’t been able to reach them FIRST. God used your partnership with BRPC to intervene and 54 of them CHOSE LIFE!!! THANK YOU! Together, let’s save even MORE lives in 2025!

Abortions are on the rise. Although Roe was overturned in 2022, 49 years of access to abortion as a constitutional right, combined with the silence of The-Church-at-large, has left an indelible mark on our culture. Abortion is so ingrained into the fabric of our society that it has become an “acceptable” pregnancy option— even for those who claim the name of Christ. Nine states, plus D.C., have successfully enshrined unrestricted abortion-to-birth into their state constitutions largely on the votes of evangelical Christians (the largest demographic of registered voters). We cannot allow this to happen here in The Commonwealth. Please stay tuned for updates on the radical abortion amendment being fast-tracked by our legislators in Richmond. PRAY for the defeat of this amendment and PRAY for BRPC. Thank you for fighting for [abundant] LIFE with us!

In His service,
Jane Oliver, Executive Director

Virginia Pro-Abortion Amendment

Virginia legislators in both the House and Senate have successfully accomplished the first steps needed to move forward with adding an extreme unlimited-to-birth abortion state constitutional amendment to the 2026 ballot. Virginia is already a pro-abortion state allowing unlimited access to abortion through 26 weeks, 6 days, and even to birth under some circumstances. We have become an abortion destination state for those seeking abortion from other states where it is limited or banned. If passed, this amendment will supersede any existing or future proposed statutory law and will remove all protections for the preborn to the moment of birth. Not only that, but this disastrous amendment will also:

  • Allow abortion without parental consent or notification for a minor of any age
  • Eliminate ALL safeguards for women and babies, removing any accountability for a standard of care
  • Force taxpayers to fund abortions – even late-term.
  • Jeopardize religious freedom – NO conscience protections!
  • Allow gender-altering surgeries on minors – WITHOUT parental consent!

If the amendment becomes part of our state constitution, it will cause irreparable damage and threaten the lives of women and preborn children in an unprecedented way that we may never recover from.

Your help is needed to keep this amendment from becoming reality. NOW is the time to educate yourself and others about this dangerous amendment and to contact your legislators in both the House and Senate and ask them to vote NO on this radical, pro-abortion amendment, HJ-1 and SJ-247 respectively, in 2026. Click below to find and contact your legislators, as well as to view the abortion amendment timeline provided by the Family Foundation.

Thank you for speaking up with us for LIFE.

Having each of these women at the Life Center has already made a huge difference!

Client Story Highlight

The distress in Alanna’s (name changed for patient privacy) voice was tangible through the phone as she inquired about making an appointment at BRPC. She shared that, tragically, her current pregnancy was the result of rape. As a single mom who recently fled an abusive relationship, this new trauma of sexual violence and resulting pregnancy was overwhelming. While she identified herself as a Christian who has always opposed abortion, under these circumstances, Alanna was convinced abortion was her ONLY option.

Although she had already scheduled an appointment for an abortion, Alanna chose to come to BRPC FIRST for a free pregnancy test and ultrasound, and to learn more about abortion. During the appointment, our patient advocate shared her personal abortion experience. Alanna then revealed that she had scheduled an abortion for a previous pregnancy, but chose life after seeing the heartbeat and humanity of her baby through ultrasound; however, THIS pregnancy was different. THIS baby was conceived in rape!

The ultrasound of THIS baby was no different. Alanna realized rape didn’t change the intrinsic value of this little life as an Image-Bearer of God. This was her son or daughter – a tiny human with purpose and a God-sized plan who did not deserve the death penalty for the sin of its father.

The trauma and violence of abortion cannot erase the trauma and violence of rape. In fact, it may further complicate it. The emotional, physical, and spiritual support Alanna received at BRPC through your generosity was a tangible reminder to her of God’s faithfulness and helped empower her to choose LIFE in this difficult circumstance. Alanna continues to receive pregnancy support and counseling for her trauma and participates in an Embrace Grace group at a local church where she is discipled and encouraged alongside other pregnant single moms. This will not be an easy road for Alanna, but it will be worth it, and God and BRPC will be with her every step of the way.

Baby Bottle Campaign

The average cost of an abortion in Virginia is $540.

For the same amount, we can provide a woman’s first pregnancy test, first ultrasound, and the counseling necessary to empower a life decision. We can also use this to continue giving resources and support the family after baby is born.

Ways to get involved:

  • Fill a bottle with coins, cash, or a check payable to Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center
  • Click below or to donate or text GIVE to (434) 226-5418
  • Please pray for our ministry to continue impacting families now and for eternity

Baby Bottle Campaigns can begin any time of the year, but some of our supporters prefer to highlight the Mother’s and Father’s Day timeline. If you, your church, or your business is interested in hosting a Baby Bottle Campaign, please reach out to babybottles@blueridgepc.org.

Thank you for your support in helping save lives!

Volunteer Highlight: Terry Kelly

Judy Taylor

Meet Terry Kelly, who has been serving as a Volunteer Patient Advocate for two years. Terry and his wife moved to Lynchburg in 2019, and they have three grown children and four grandchildren. Terry works nights as a maintenance mechanic for Frito-Lay, which allows him to volunteer at BRPC during the day.

Terry first heard about BRPC through Pastor Tyler Cash when he and his wife were attending Christ Covenant Fellowship. Pastor Tyler encouraged men in the church to serve as patient advocates, and Terry was immediately interested. Terry had been looking for opportunities to reach out and help in the community, and when he learned that he would have the opportunity to share the gospel with men facing unplanned pregnancies, he felt called to serve in this way.

A lot of men who come in are lost. They don’t know where to turn or what to do. It can be difficult to hear their stories, especially those who are abortion-minded. But as an advocate, not only does Terry share God’s love and hope with the men who come to our Center and encourage them to step up in their role as fathers, he has also chosen to invest further in their lives. Terry has helped a number of men find jobs and even helped one apply for and obtain his Permanent Resident Card. He has seen another three young men consistently attend church.

It’s about trying to tell someone that we all make mistakes, but with God, it’s not a mistake because He has a perfect plan for everything. We just need to follow Him. Serving as an advocate gives you an opportunity to obey God’s law and to tell others about Christ, and to be faithful in the community in an environment that is, I believe, a God-worthy cause: saving lives. And it’s not just the life of the unborn, but the life of the person you are ministering to. You’ve got one shot, a short window. Take it. Obey God’s law and do what He says and reach out to these people.

If you are a man interested in reaching out to other men in our community with God’s truth, please reach out to our Men’s Ministry Director, Alaric West, at
alaric@blueridgepc.org. You can also click below to apply and receive more information.

Men's Ministry Highlight

From Alaric West, Men's Services Director

Carry the Fire

A young man came in with his pregnant girlfriend seeking guidance about a difficult decision: he was considering an abortion. He was a high school student, carrying the weight of adult responsibilities at a young age. He worked hard to help support his household but was feeling lost and uncertain about his future. This wasn’t his first experience with an abortion; he had been through similar circumstances with a previous girlfriend. As we sat together, it was clear that he was struggling; he seemed down and deeply torn over the decision he was facing.

He began to open up about his life. He shared the weight of his burdens, telling me that he often felt isolated and had no one to confide in. He wanted to keep the child, but didn’t feel he had the means to support it, and feared was that his mother would kick him out of the house if she knew. As he spoke, I could see the pain in his eyes, and he was on the verge of tears the whole time. I shared the gospel with him and read Psalm 32.  I reassured him that he wasn’t alone and that he had people around him who cared and that God was always nearby.

I offered to pray for him, but to my surprise, he reached out to shake my hand, and pulled me into a hug instead— and sobbed. Before he left, we talked about the future. I offered to mentor him and help guide him through the next steps of parenting. He agreed to let me pick him up from school once a week for regular mentorship sessions to help him navigate life after high school, teach him financial skills, provide guidance, and walk him through the scriptures. I promised to help him find a job after graduation if he committed to the mentorship. Please pray for this young man and for those like him who walk through the doors of BRPC each week. Please pray for our male advocates who meet with them. Thank you for your financial and prayer partnership that allows us to empower men to choose life and step up to be the best dads and partners they can be.
