Hello LIFEsaver!

I hope this finds you enjoying a fun and refreshing summer. As we step into this vibrant season, I want to take a moment to thank you once again for standing with us in the vital work of offering compassion, hope, help, and life-affirming care to women, men and families in our community. Your generosity continues to save and change lives – and never before has your partnership been more crucial.

New Findings, Renewed Urgency

Did you know that chemical abortion (aka the abortion pill) accounts for 63% (or more) of all abortions? The majority of abortion-minded patients who walk through our doors are pursuing this early-pregnancy abortion option.

While the abortion industry tells women these drugs are “safer than Tylenol,” a growing body of evidence tells the real story. These drugs (mifepristone and misoprostol) are NOT safe, especially in the hands of our unregulated abortion industry who provides them without medical supervision, an ultrasound, or follow-up care. They are even available online through the mail.

Recently, an abortion-minded woman who planned to take the abortion pill chose to come to BRPC first for an ultrasound which revealed an empty uterus. She was immediately referred to the emergency department by our Nurse Manager on suspicion of an ectopic pregnancy which can be life-threatening and is not resolvable with abortion drugs. A few hours later, the patient notified us that the E.D. confirmed an ectopic pregnancy and she would be undergoing emergency surgery. If this woman had taken her abortion pills without first having an ultrasound, her undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy would likely have resulted in her death. The gravity of this situation was not lost on the patient (or us), and she was humbly grateful for the excellent care she received from BRPC that YOU make possible.

A New Study

A new study confirms what we see every day: the abortion pill not only ends a preborn life, it is also dangerous to the physical and emotional health of women.

The Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) issued a groundbreaking report that shows 1 in 10 women experienced serious adverse events from a chemical abortion. That’s 22 times higher than the 0.5% rate reported in clinical trials as cited by the FDA and on the mifepristone label. These events include serious complications like sepsis, hemorrhaging, infection, hospitalization, surgery, and even death.

Some of the latest data includes:

  • A sharp rise in emergency room visits following chemical abortions – significantly higher than those following surgical abortion procedures.
  • Evidence that women are often not adequately informed about the risks, such as hemorrhaging, infection, incomplete abortion, and the likelihood of seeing their tiny, but fully-formed and recognizable baby when it is expelled from the uterus.
  • An alarming increase in at-home, mail-order abortion pills, which remove vital medical oversight and support during a physically and emotionally traumatic process.
  • At our center, we see the consequences firsthand: women traumatized by their experience; some coming to us after taking the first pill, desperate to reverse the decision… or simply needing someone to walk with them through the aftermath.

Your Impact Is Saving Lives (80 so far in 2025!)

Because of your generosity, we are able to:

  • Offer abortion pill reversal treatment, often in time to save a baby’s life. (2 babies saved!)
  • Provide truthful, compassionate education about the real risks of chemical and other types of abortion.
  • Equip women and men with alternatives rooted in dignity, hope, and health to empower a LIFE decision.
  • Further the gospel of Jesus Christ

Every story of redemption, ultrasound image showing a flicker of life, and woman who walks out of our center with renewed HOPE and confidence in her future is because of YOU and your partnership with us in this life-affirming, gospel-centered work.

As summer unfolds, please continue to pray for the women and men who find their way to us – often scared, misinformed, but never beyond hope. Thank you for being an advocate for life. Together, we are a voice of compassion and clarity in a confused world.

With deep gratitude,
Jane Oliver, Executive Director

Virginia Pro-Abortion Amendment

BRPC is NOT a political organization; however, there are times when legislative matters weigh so heavily on the work that we do and the people we serve that we cannot afford to stay silent – THIS is one of those times, and your help and prayers are needed to defeat the radical abortion amendment in VA.

Amendment Watch:

To amend our state constitution, the amendment must be approved by the legislature in two consecutive legislative sessions with an intervening election before it can be placed on voter ballots.

  • Step 1: Amendment PASSED both legislative chambers in January 2025 by a narrow margin along party lines:
    • House 51-48 (51 Democrats in favor; 48 Republicans opposed)
    • Senate 21-19 (21 Democrats in favor; 19 Republicans opposed)
  • We are HERE: Step 2: GENERAL ELECTION: Nov 4, 2025:

Please VOTE and VOTE for LIFE!
  • Step 3: Second Legislative Session: January 2026
  • Step 4: Ballot: November 2026

The 2025 General Election is our BEST (and possibly ONLY) OPPORTUNITY to prevent this egregious amendment from appearing on Voter Ballots in November 2026 by electing PRO-LIFE candidates to the House of Delegates who will vote NO on this dangerous amendment.

Early In-Person Voting:
September 19 – November 1 | Voting For:

  • Governor, Lieutenant Governor, & Attorney General
  • ALL 100 seats in the House of Delegates are up for grabs!
  • Various Local Offices

CURRENT REALITY: **62% of Virginians support this dangerous amendment!**

If the amendment goes on Voter ballots, it is highly likely to pass and the “fundamental right” to unrestricted abortion-to-birth will be enshrined into our state constitution by VA voters in 2026.

Client Story Highlight

At age twenty, Shauna (name changed for patient privacy) wasn’t ready to be a mom, plus she felt it wasn’t “right” to bring a baby into her current relationship with the father when she didn’t see a future with him. She decided the abortion pill was her best option and searched for it online. She discovered that BRPC provides free abortion education information and ultrasounds. Shauna knew very little about abortion, so she decided that going to BRPC was her first “next right step.”

While at BRPC, Shauna learned the facts about abortion and that taking the abortion pill may result in her seeing her tiny, fully-formed baby when it is expelled. She had never heard this before, and it was alarming. She did NOT want to see that. During the ultrasound, Shauna smiled as she saw her tiny baby wiggling in her womb. She felt her heart soften and was conflicted about her decision – was abortion REALLY the best option for her and her baby? As she left our clinic “undecided” about her pregnancy decision, we prayed for her.

A few weeks later, we were elated when Shauna reached out to her Patient Advocate to tell her she had decided to keep her baby. She thanked her Advocate for being “such a big help” by sitting and talking with her and helping her work through her pregnancy decision. Shauna also thanked her for her role in helping her make “the best choice for her,” and said she is “excited” about “becoming a mommy.” We praise the Lord for this LIFE decision and we thank YOU for making it possible.

Volunteer Highlight: Stephanie Hart

Judy Taylor

Meet Stephanie Hart! A native of Rustburg, VA, Stephanie lives in Forest, VA. She and her husband have three wonderful adult children, all of whom are married.

Stephanie has been serving as a Volunteer Patient Advocate for almost a year, and God’s perfect timing in leading her to BRPC is so evident.

Ever since she was a student in high school, God has placed a love for the unborn and an interest in the abortion climate on her heart. After she got married and had kids of her own, this calling to help those facing unplanned pregnancies only grew. Having grown up in the area, Stephanie was fully aware and supportive of BRPC’s work and mission, and after she finished raising her own children and spending many years in her career, as well as serving in other capacities in her church and community, God fully opened the door for her to be here as an advocate. The moment that door opened, Stephanie was overjoyed and immediately reached out to Julie to sign up for the advocate training.

During her first year as an advocate, Stephanie has realized how much we can be in our own Christian bubble.

Sitting with these patients in their hurt as they share their struggles and situations is deeply heartbreaking, humbling and eye-opening. You just don’t know what they are going through until you create that safe place for them to open up. They need Jesus – that is what they are missing. I really care about their souls and I want these moms to know they are loved and they are not alone. Even my past clients are always on my heart and in my prayers, because I want them to know that Jesus loves them. This is His battle, and I want them to see His grace through me.

If you have a heart for serving, this is an amazing opportunity to share the gospel. You don’t need to be the ‘counselor type.’ It’s an opportunity to come into someone’s life, and it’s amazing how the appointments you have are who you are meant to talk to. Whether they’ve had a miscarriage, previous abortion(s), already have had kids back-to-back, whatever it might be, you can always connect with them. You don’t need to be perfect or worry about what to say – God is using you to plant the seed. Just come and pour into these people because they need Jesus and the gospel. They don’t get any love and support at the abortion clinics. But they get that here in the appointments and pregnancy classes. You get to walk through this journey with them.

Men's Ministry Update

From Landry Coleman, Men's Services Director

Landry Coleman

The men’s ministry here at BRPC is entering a season of change. Just recently, we welcomed a new Men’s Services Director, Landry Coleman, who stepped into the role at the end of April.

Landry is a devoted husband to his wife, Samantha, and is a proud father to five amazing children. Born and raised in Lynchburg, he holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Communication from Liberty University. He is also currently pursuing an MFA in Digital Media Production.

Landry would like to thank Alaric West, our former Men’s Services Director, for his faithful leadership and for laying a strong foundation for this ministry. Alaric’s heart, hard work, and dedication have made a lasting impact that Landry hopes to build upon.

This new opportunity at BRPC is truly an answer to prayer for Landry. For months, he had been seeking the Lord for a way to serve and support men – especially young fathers – in a meaningful way. He believes that God has brought him here for such a time as this.

Within his first month, Landry has already had the opportunity to sit down with several young men who have visited the center with their partners. One conversation in particular stands out. A few weeks ago, he met with a young father who recently found out his wife was pregnant and they were leaning towards an abortion. The couple already had one young child, and the idea of welcoming another to their family so soon felt overwhelming and impossible. Landry listened to his concerns, showed him scripture that speaks to the sanctity of life, and then offered to pray for him and his young family. A week later, during a follow-up, the couple shared that they had decided to choose life – they were going to parent. Praise God!

Landry’s vision for the future of the ministry includes continuing to meet with and support young fathers, but also expanding into new areas – offering training opportunities and creating digital resources for men navigating fatherhood. He hopes to use his background in digital media and communication to equip and encourage men.

Landry is excited for what’s ahead and looks forward to walking this journey with you.
